Malleable HUB
Booking a journal entry with a robot
Accountants have good reason to be cautious about letting AI near the ledger. An incorrect entry can affect how a business operates and create real problems with auditors and regulators. In a new essay for Malleable HUB, Controller Gregory Schroeder explains how MGT’s accounting team built trust in agentic operations through mandatory human checkpoints.
Our operations prepare journal entries in the background, then pause and send an accountant a secure form for review. They cannot post to NetSuite until that approval is given, and their access to other systems is limited to the specific actions each step requires. Those same checkpoints also take on one of accounting’s biggest hidden time-sinks: chasing approvals. Our first AI-posted entry was just two lines long, and by August the team was confidently posting 1,000-line entries with the same controls in place.
